The exuberance of musical theatre with the passion of grand opera

Australasia's most celebrated opera stars, Teddy Tahu Rhodes and Dame Malvina Major, join TV and theatre star Jennifer Ward-Lealand and Baz Luhrmann's favourite tenor David Hobson in From Broadway to La Scala -- two beautiful nights of glamour, passion and romance in Auckland and Christchurch next month.

From Puccini to Rodgers and Hammerstein, Bizet to Gershwin and Verdi to Cole Porter, these unique concert experiences at Auckland's Town Hall on Friday, 18 September and Christchurch's Isaac Theatre Royal on Sunday, 20 September, will feature many of the greatest songs, arias and duets ever composed.

Joining this magnificent lineup for her New Zealand debut is soprano Greta Bradman -- granddaughter of cricketing legend Sir Donald -- who is set to thrill audiences with her seamless blend of classical elegance and theatrical glamour.

Backed by a full orchestra featuring some of New Zealand's finest musicians in Auckland and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra in Christchurch, under the musical direction of Vanessa Scammell, From Broadway to La Scala will transport audiences with a richly entwined repertoire of all time classics, drawn from two of the world’s most enduringly popular musical genres. Please note, the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra was wrongly billed for the Auckland concert. APO players are already committed to engagements with NZ Opera and a conductor development programme during this time, and number of excellent Auckland freelance musicians have been enlisted for ‘From Broadway to La Scala’.

Greta Bradman: “The opportunity to connect with people from all walks of life is such a privilege and one of my favourite parts of being a performer. This concert is really a wonderful way for anyone to enjoy a diverse selection of music, from contemporary masterpieces to world-famous operas, which they might not otherwise get to experience.”
