Colourful performances at Green Gardens Lunar Festival
The Green Gardens Lunar New Year Festival on 15th February, celebrating the Chinese Year of the Goat features a singing performance by Lucia Gao, the Second runner-up of the International New Talent Singing Championship 2014.
Lucia just got her title last November in the International New Talent Singing Championship where she completed with the representatives from over 30 countries and areas. Besides singing Chinese and English songs, she will also have a violin performance on stage.
Other highlights at the Lunar Festival, which will be held at The Trusts Arena in Henderson, will include a group performance of various Chinese music instruments led by our Miss Chinese Cosmos, a traditional Chinese yo-yo show and a performance by magician, Andre Vegas, a finalist in New Zealand’s Got Talent.
Special VIP guests at the event organised by World TV Limited, will include key government officials, leaders from political parties and MPs along with representatives from the Chinese, Japanese and Korean Consulates.
World TV, General Manager, Samson Yau says the Green Gardens Lunar Festival is a highlight in the calendar for Chinese, Koreans and Japanese living in New Zealand and is now an increasingly popular event among all Kiwis, and will be a grand celebration with something for everybody.
“A large crowd is expected to attend the event as usual and there will be a wide variety of stalls selling Asian food and various products,” Mr Yau said.
The festival commences at 3:00 pm Sunday 15th February and culminates with the main programme of entertainment attended by the guests of honour and VIPs starting at 8:00 pm. Entry is free. The event wraps up with a spectacular fireworks display at 9:15 pm.
The number of attendees has grown from about 25,000 at the inaugural event in 2008 to around 60,000 in 2013. Ironman Construction Ltd (trade as Green Gardens) is the title sponsor for this year.
The event will be promoted via WTV’s network of 10 pay TV channels, two Freeview TV channels and three radio stations together with its website istars.co.nz and digital point-of-sale signage media.
