Humankindness are easy to enjoy, hard to define. Their original Rock & Soul music is warm and welcoming but highly distinctive and bristling with adventure.

Playing the songs of writer and slide guitarist Steve Mitchell, the band’s reputation for powerful, inventive live shows has grown steadily since their hometown debut at this year’s Jazz & Blues Festival.

Humankindness blend rock, blues, funk, soul, and singer-songwriter styles into a unique sound. There are no rules. Hook-laden acoustic songs share the set with powerhouse twin guitar jams that rely on the sensitivity of the band to stretch out over tough, infectious grooves.

I don’t recognise that music has boundaries. We let the songs dictate where we take them. We like to challenge ourselves and leave a lot to chance on the night. We hope that will give people an enjoyable experience that also has an emotional resonance.” - Steve Mitchell.
