Stacy Morrison and Faye Garlick met at Whangarei’s annual Art beat Market. Often buying or trading each other’s art, they discovered they had a mutual audience for their work. With both artists creating work that suits both indoor and outdoor display, this exhibition brings together the two artists’ work as one cohesive whole.

Faye – “My work is about bold colours, balancing positive and negative space inspired by New Zealand, Eastern and Polynesian design. Marrying new and recycled woodwork to an alternative outdoor abrasive canvas. All of the work in this exhibition has a reoccurring design that ties my artwork together. Stacy has also designed some of her work to tie in with a few of my designs and vice versa."

Stacy - Stacy has a Visual Arts degree and has been working with Clay for about 10 years.
Stacy’s Talent for clay sculpture is evident throughout the Whangarei community with her art entered into a variety of local group exhibitions at a number of different galleries. As well as tutoring her medium at a mental health drop in centre, she has also created trophies for the “colour our city” art competition in support of the Hundertwasser building project, and makes and donates personalized hearts for Angel memory boxes – a charity supporting families with infants who have passed away from heart defects. Stacy has recently been working with the children from Whangarei primary school, helping them with their clay work for an exhibition to be held next year at Reyburn House.
