Wellington experimental rock duo Into Orbit will return to Palmerston North for a show at The Royal on Saturday 30 May.

Into Orbit are a dynamic duo of guitar and drums whose immersive, genre-defying sound contains aspects of post rock, prog, metal, ambience and drone. They independently released their debut album Caverns in August 2014, earning them high praise from critics and fans alike. Often compared to post rock and progressive bands such as Jakob, Russian Circles, Tool and Pink Floyd, the duo have earned themselves a reputation as one of Wellington's finest rock acts. Anyone who’s seen them will testify, the Into Orbit live experience is not one to be missed.

Joining them will be Opium Eater, who rose from the ashes of now defunct psychedelic drone act An Hero. Disbanding after recording their second An Hero album, four of the five members have returned as Opium Eater with a heavier and more focussed sound. With only a handful of shows under their belt, they are already turning heads and gaining a reputation for a powerful live show.

Opening the evening will be Palmy locals Diamond Sutra, a female fronted alternative/electronic rock band. Often compared to the likes of Lacuna Coil, NIN and Deftones, Diamond Sutra have crafted a distinct sound of their own, blending together the sounds of alt-rock, industrial, electronic and progressive metal.

Door Sales $10 ($5 with a student ID), first act 10pm sharp.
