Special event on Saturday 10 October from 2pm in association with Artweek Auckland: The artist will give a poetry performance and floor talk with SNAANS on percussion

James Robinson works with mysticism and magic, mythology and history and social and ecological concerns. In this exhibition, Robinson comments on climate change and the human condition through process painting and mixed media assemblage. There is an unconscious and atavistic intelligence at play, and ancient and forensic influences combine in his experimental language.

Robinson has received numerous awards for his accomplished and challenging work, among them: the William Hodges Fellowship in 2013, the Takt Kunstprojektraum art residency in East Berlin, Germany in 2009, the McCahon House residency in 2007 and the Paramount prize at the 2007 Wallace Art Awards.
