Under her directorship of Deborah McCormick, SCAPE Public Art has commissioned more than 150 new temporary public artworks with a gifting programme of eight permanent artworks. Held in Christchurch’s central city public spaces and supported through a range of partnerships, SCAPE Public Art is renowned for showcasing leading international contemporary artists as well as being a springboard for new local talent.

This talk is part of a community led initiative aimed at promoting the interests and opportunities of Tauranga’s creative, arts and cultural communities. A series of talks offers conversations between artists, public art commissioners, tangata whenua, urban designers, strategists, historians and curators from here and around the country and coincides with Tauranga City Council releasing their draft Public Art Policy for public feedback (2-27 February).
