Born in Poperinge in Belgium in 1958, Charlotte Descamps has lived most of her life on the battlefields of the Ypres Salient in Passchendaele. Descamps began her international speaking career in 2011 at the annual seminar of the Western Front Association in Victoria, British Columbia in Canada. Since March 2012, Descamps lectured on the "Iron Harvest" in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Charlotte will speak about how year after year, the First World War still causes victims on the battlefields. Fatalities and injuries have been suffered by private collectors attempting to salvage shells, children who have picked up hand grenades and farmers working in the fields, who have accidentally harvested tons of iron.

The Great War Exhibition is open until 10pm on Wednesday nights. Gain a wealth of knowledge from this expert talk, take your time experiencing The Great War Exhibition and end your evening with dinner at our onsite cafe and restaurant, Home Shores.
