Literary Gold: Mansfield scholar Gerri Kimber shares her discovery of nearly 30 unknown poems by New Zealand writer, Katherine Mansfield.

Dr Kimber shares her discovery of The Earth Child, a collection of poetry by Katherine Mansfield at a special talk on Wednesday 5 August at the Wellington City Gallery at 5.30pm. Entrance is free but seats are limited.

The poems were composed by Mansfield in 1910 and sent to the London Publisher Elkin Matthews in the second half of that year. It was bequested to the Newberry Library in Chicago, USA by the estate of Jane Warner Dick (1906-1997) in 1999, where it remained unnoticed until discovered by Dr Gerri Kimber in May 2015 as she worked her way through the rich holdings of Mansfield materials held at the library. Dr Kimber will be discussing her find and talking about the significance of some of the newly discovered poems.
