Show hosted by the Manawatunes ~ NZ Champion Small Chorus

With additional performances from PNBHS OK Chorale, Nadia & Sarah Ridsdale (guitar & flute duo) and Miguel Garrido (hang drum musician).

Musical Island Boys
While students at Tawa College in 2002, this quartet wrote their most ambitious dream down on paper: "To be the best in the world". 'Musical Island Boys' achieved that dream last July when they became the 2014 International Barbershop Quartet Gold Medal Champions.
"Living the dream" has taken 'Musical Island Boys' all over the world, where they have received standing ovations in the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, United Kingdom, China, Japan, Australia and throughout the USA. In addition to shows here in New Zealand, they have also made numerous television and radio appearances.
The quartet's musical influences are Motown and R & B, and these are included in their unique and heartfelt brand of unaccompanied singing.
The combination of four lush, rich and resonant voices of Pacific Island heritage, along with their high-energy and entertaining performances have made them very popular at previous Manawatunes' shows. Don't miss this opportunity to hear the soaring harmonies of the best in the world, right here in Palmerston North.

Other Performers
OK Chorale
For over 20 years, Palmerston North Boys High School's elite choir has aimed to perform an entertaining and inventive repertoire. The Chorale is also where Matthew Gifford, the Musical Island Boys' bass singer, started his singing "career" and it is only fitting that they'll also perform in this show.

Nadia & Sarah Ridsdale
Between them, this talented, teenage, guitar and flute duo have packed a lot into the last decade: ballet dancing, learning various instruments, teaching guitar, organising youth concerts and busking on Palmerston North streets and as far away as Paihia and Russell.

Miguel Garrido
Miguel learnt percussion during carnival times back in his hometown of Valparaiso, in Chile. Nearly two years ago, he started playing the hang drum. This is a relatively new and not often seen instrument with an amazing sound and a distinctive UFO shape.

Manawatunes Chorus ~ New Zealand Small Chorus Champions 2014, 2010 & 1999
Under the direction of their new musical director, the show hosts will perform an all-new set of songs.

The Manawatunes 'On Top of the World' show takes place on Thursday 11 June at 7.30pm, at the Speirs Centre, PNBHS, 263 Featherston St, Palmerston North. General admission.
