Who?
The school holiday programme is for 5 to 12 year olds who would like to learn Mandarin Chinese and about the Chinese culture. We can also enrol 3 to 5 year olds on a case by case basis, so please contact us to discuss this if you are interested. Parents are welcome to join in to support their child – please let us know if you would like to do this. Children will need to bring their own water bottle. All programme materials, morning tea and cooked lunch will be provided.

When?
9:30am to 3pm each day. Week 1: Wednesday 14 January 2015. Week 2: Wednesday 21 January 2015.
Please note that Week 2 is a repeat of Week 1. You can attend one or two days. Attending two days is helpful in reaffirming the language learning.

What?
This is an immersion Mandarin Chinese language programme. Children will be communicated to in Mandarin Chinese, with plenty of accompanying body language and actions. There may be a few puzzled faces at the start, but they will be fine and will soon pick things up! Immersion is a good way of learning the language first hand. Note that our teachers/supervisors are fluent in English, and will use it where necessary, so you can tell your child not to worry!

Chinese New Year’s Eve/Day is on 18/19 February 2015, so this holiday programme has a Chinese New Year theme. The programme will include the following activities:

Welcome and greetings in Mandarin.
Introduction to related vocabulary and game activities.
Preparation of morning tea in Mandarin.
Make and eat dumplings (mince pork and mixed vegetables).
Chinese New Year folk story of the Dumpling.
Revision of the day’s vocabulary / learning and interactive language games.

How much?
$70 per child per day ($135 for 2 days). A family discount of 5% applies when enrolling more than one child (siblings). Fees include all materials, morning tea and a cooked lunch. Your child just needs to bring themselves and a water bottle.
