With a life long passion for art and beautiful things especially light, fine art and photography was always my dream. Captivated by the glow of the sunlight at sunset bouncing off the rolling hills of Hawkes Bay, the beams of light that pierce through the clouds down to the moody mystical light at twilight, light is my obsession and inspiration.

I began to develop my certain style of photographic fine art at art school prior and around 2010, in particular learning how to manipulate light to achieve certain effects. I have further since developed and refined my techniques to produce artwork which captivates the soul and enhances our lives by dressing our walls with positive and stimulating images. By surrounding ourselves with positive artwork we enhance the quality of our lives without realising it. A bright and colourful canvas such as found in Hidden Realities (2013) can lift our senses on a dull or low day and the peaceful quality of Transparency (2015) will bring a calm to the busyness of our everyday lives.

Transparency is a unique body of work (10 artworks), which I produced across a busy time and it’s careful craft and daily diligence offered me solace in it’s peaceful and soft nature and attitude. Each artwork is designed to bring about a certain emotion which ought to improve our state of being, such as peace, joy, freedom and serenity. These attributes lead to living a transparent life and transparency in turn leads to a life of these qualities. Hence the title of the collection.
Transparency is comprised of works illustrating various forms of birds in flight as the central symbol combined with a soft palette to create shades of serenity. The individual art pieces have been reworked and have taken on a dreamlike appearance conveying images and feelings of freedom, lightness, peace and tranquility. These emotions are so beneficial for us to experience in our daily lives, which are often so polluted with the hustle and bustle of 21st century living.

With such delicate artworks it took much hunting for the finest paper and printers in the country. After test prints flying back and forth I was delighted to discover the most wonderful German Etching paper imported by The Digital Dark Room in Auckland and their print quality is second to none. The soft texture of the paper creates an excellent third dimensional quality in the artworks.

Transparency is a collection of works that will create harmony wherever they hang and thereby will enhance the lives of whosoever should be fortunate enough to own one.
