Internationally renowned tenor Simon O’Neill will host a voice masterclass with NZSM Classical Performance students.

Simon O’Neill has established himself as one of the finest heldentenors on the international stage. He has been described in the international press as ‘THE Wagnerian tenor of his generation’. He is a principal artist with the Metropolitan Opera and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and performs regularly at the most distinguished houses all over the world, including La Scala and Bayreuth. He plays Cavaradossi in New Zealand Opera’s upcoming production of Tosca.

Simon is an alumnus of the School of Music, Victoria University of Wellington, as well as the University of Otago, the Manhattan School of Music and the Juilliard Opera Center. Simon has also been an Adjunct Research Fellow at Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music, giving individual coaching sessions to advanced NZSM singing students. He is a Fulbright Scholar, was awarded the 2005 Arts Laureate of New Zealand and was a grand finalist in the 2002 Metropolitan Opera National Auditions returning as guest artist in 2007.
