For more than ten years Te Manawa has had the privilege of hosting Matatau, an exhibition showcasing a selection of work by the graduating students from Te Pūtahi-a-Toi, the School of Māori Art, Knowledge and Education at Massey University.

The works range across various disciplines including painting, installation and digital media, and explore the theme of ‘mana tangata’ (human rights or empowerment) expressed variably through customary narrative, language retention, environmental protection and ritual integrity.

The 2015 Matatau exhibition features the work of Mahaki Akauola, Puawai Taiapa, Tegan Hautapu and Glenn Hauraki.
