This event is a weekly drop in class.
Each class consists of a guided meditation and a talk based on Buddhist wisdom. Classes are suitable for everyone. Join in any week, booking is not required.

Dealing with Anger - Week of 18 May to week of 15 June
Anger takes many forms from mild irritation or annoyance to lingering resentment, bad temper and even rage, but it is always painful and destructive. Learn simple techniques to deal with our own and others’ anger. Through meditation and other practices it is possible to gradually reduce the frequency and intensity of our anger, and eventually eradicate it altogether.
Advice from the Heart - Week of 22 June to week of 27 July
Learn ancient wisdom that can be applied to our busy modern lives, By taking this simple, practical advice to heart we can attain a special wisdom that can make every moment of our life happy and meaningful
Understanding the Mind - Week of 3 August to week of 7 September
What is the mind and how does it work? Learn how to use an understanding of your mind to increase your happiness.
Teacher - Buddhist nun Kelsang Luma
These classes present practical meditations that help us solve the problems of daily life and find a deep inner peace and contentment that remains with us out of meditation. Each class consists of two guided meditations and an explanatory talk. The classes run for 90 minutes.
Anyone can practise meditation and everyone is welcome to attend. There is no physical exercise involved and you can choose to sit either in a chair or on a cushion.
These classes are suitable for all levels of experience.
Structure of the class
- Brief prayer
- Introductory meditation
- Explanatory teaching
- Main meditation
After the class everyone is welcome to stay for light refreshments.
Attending the class
The classes are organised as short courses, usually 4, 5 or 6 weeks long. You can attend the whole course or simply drop in whenever you can as each class is self-contained.
Class fee $10
Held at the Centre, 19a Upper Crichton Terrace, Cashmere, Christchurch
(please do not park on Upper Crichton Terrace)
