Where: Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery, 420 Titirangi Road, Titirangi, Auckland

Restrictions: All Ages

Ticket Information:

  • Admission: Free

The Memorial March is a walking tour of selected memorial sites around Titirangi Village. The walk starts at the top of Mt Atkinson hill, before continuing on to Soldiers’ Memorial Walkway, the Henry Atkinson statue outside Lopdell House, Titirangi Soldiers Memorial Church and Titirangi RSA before concluding at Titirangi Memorial Hall. This echoes the actual journeys some of these memorials have taken to find a permanent home. At each site, we'll hear about the memorial's history and how it came to be in its current location. Speakers include Andrew Clifford, Ioana Gordon-Smith, Matt McMillan and Robyn Mason.

The Memorial March is part of Te Uru's ongoing series called The Memorial Project. Over the WWI00 commemoration period, Te Uru will stage talks, events and performances that consider how memorials function and how they might be used to contextualise and understand our own local histories.

Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a water bottle.

Weather is rain dependent - keep an eye on for more information.
