The ever popular annual Open Studio Tour happens again the first two weekends of March 2015. The self drive tour is your opportunity to see the diverse range of 46 artists from around the Eastern Coromandel Peninsula from Kuaotunu in the north to Tairua in the south. Take time to meet the artist in their studio setting, understand the inspiration behind their work, and purchase directly from the artistic source! The artists enjoy chatting to visitors and sharing their passion and pleasure in their work.

The wide variety of mediums include jewellery, painting, sculpture, wood, carving, photography, prints, mosaics and pottery so there is something for everyone's taste. If you can’t make it in March, all Art Escape members are open year-round by appointment.

An invaluable reference manual ‘The Guide’, featuring 12 new artists, includes artists’ biographies and images of a selection of their work, easy to read maps, plus listings for many cafes, galleries, tours and B&B’s in the area. The new 2015 version is now available to purchase direct from our online shop and at many local stockists noted on our website.

The Launch of the Tour and the opening of the Showcase exhibition, ‘Taste of the Tour’, features one work from each member will be held on Friday 6 March at 5.30pm at Hot Waves Café, Hot Water Beach. The Guest speaker is NZ artist, author and well known printmaker Carole Shepheard from Kawhia. This is an ideal opportunity to mingle with the artists, get a feel for the work on show and take an early opportunity to purchase their works. The launch is a significant event on the Peninsula calendar and is sold out well before. Tickets will be on sale through the Art Escape website from mid-December. This popular exhibition runs through to Easter Monday 6 April.
