For their final concert in Auckland trumpeter Bill Stoneham and soon to be UK based organist Timothy Noon are celebrating the composers of 17th and 18th century Venice. They will be championing works by Vivaldi, Marcello and that most famous of adagios by Albinoni.

The rich history of music in Venice extends back to the founding of the city in the early Middle Ages, being continuously influenced by styles that originated in many parts of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. Venice bred many great musicians during the 17th century including Gabrelli, Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Marcello and Albinoni, being known as the “Republic of Music”.

During the last 3 years Bill Stoneham and Timothy Noon have established the superb pairing of trumpet and organ within New Zealand. Bill Stoneham is New Zealand's most prominent trumpet soloist, regularly being described as a, “trumpet player extraordinaire”. His duo partner, Timothy Noon, is also a sought after soloist himself. He is the current musical director at Auckland's Holy Trinity Cathedral, a position he will soon be leaving to become the musical director at Exeter Cathedral in the UK.

As this will be the pair's last New Zealand tour, the programme will also include several popular classics they have often performed, including some of those timeless trumpet voluntaries. If you've heard all about them but never heard them yourself, this is your last chance.
