New Zealand String Quartet in Waikanae

Mozart: String Quartet No 20 in D, K499
Shostakovich: String Quartet No 3
Dvorak: String Quartet No 14 in Ab, Opus 105

The New Zealand String Quartet will perform for the Waikanae Music Society on Sunday 19 April as part of a Chamber Music New Zealand tour.

Celebrating its 28th season in 2015, the New Zealand String Quartet has established an international reputation, presenting over eighty concerts around the world each year.
Dedicated teachers as well as performers, the group has been Quartet-in-Residence at the New Zealand School of Music since 1991.
The current members of the quartet have played together as a full-time ensemble since 1994 and each of them has been honoured with an MNZM for their services to music. However, for this concert their second violinist Douglas Beilman will be unable to play due to a finger injury. His place will be taken by Donald Armstrong, who has been playing with the quartet since January. Donald is very well known to Kapiti audiences, having appeared regularly with the Amici Ensemble, most recently in their stunningly successful Bach concert last month.

Favourite works by Mozart (String Quartet No 20), Shostakovich (No 3) and Dvorak (No 14) will feature in the Waikanae Memorial Hall concert. The musicians from New Zealand’s premiere ensemble say that they are looking forward to sharing their delight in these works with their audience.

The concert starts at 2.30pm. Door sales will be available or tickets can be purchased at Waikanae New World, Moby Dickens Books in Paraparaumu Beach and at Lush Deisgn Gallery in Raumati.
