Formidable American piano master Garrick Ohlsson is famous for his vast repertoire and the exceptional intelligence of his playing. In this concert he applies his brilliance to one of the most intense works in the repertoire, Brahms’ blazing and emotional First Piano Concerto.

The piece is often described as a titanic struggle between piano and orchestra, written by a passionate young genius aged only in his twenties.

Beethoven’s Leonore Overture opens the programme and Mozart’s playful Haffner Symphony under the baton of the infectiously musical Jaime Martín adds a light touch to an evening of luminous works by great masters.
