Twenty years ago, Ngā Pou Wahine was first performed by Taki Rua Productions. This was a watershed in the career of playwright Briar Grace-Smith. The play portrays the journey of a young, working-class woman as she discovers her true spirit. She is led by the stories of her whānau (family), especially the dramatic history of her ancestor, Waiora.
