“The Many Faces of Giftedness”

We are celebrating 40 years of supporting gifted children at the NZAGCC 40th Anniversary Conference from the 3rd – 5th July.

Set in the stunningly beautiful surroundings of the University of Waikato, Hamilton, this event is a time for everyone to gather and to celebrate, both their personal and the national association’s journey to creating a better learning environment for our gifted children.

In keeping with the theme of the conference “The Many Faces of Giftedness”, we have put together a diverse programme encompassing giftedness in not only European culture, but also Maori, Pasifika, and Saudi cultures. We have included Twice Exceptional (2E) and home-schooling programmes. There are programmes for the early childhood sectors, as well as the primary and the secondary sectors. We have guest speakers not only from New Zealand, but also from Australia, the USA and Singapore to share their international experience with us.

With the help from our sponsors, the conference offers teachers a golden opportunity for affordable professional development from New Zealand’s leading gifted educationalists. It also allows access to the latest research, and most importantly, the sharing of our best gifted pedagogy from teachers working at the coal face in the classroom environment. The teachers have a chance to share with parents and to learn from each other. It is only when there is a strong relationship between the parents, the students and the teachers that we get the best possible outcomes for our gifted children.

There are other professionals in the field of giftedness to meet and share pathways for supporting our gifted children. We provide discussion panels with expert psychologists who have specialist knowledge on a broad range of exceptionalities. They are highly experienced with the social and emotional needs of the gifted children.

We offer students an opportunity to meet with other like-minded young people, to be inspired, to foster a passion, to try something new, and, to have FUN!!

We offer parents, caregivers, and grandparents the opportunity to share their education experience and to be informed of the availability of gifted education so that they are best equipped to advocate on their child’s behalf. We offer a time and a place for parents to share stories, advice and parenting strategies.

Above all, we share an amazing event together as a family.

So join us, – there will only be one 40th anniversary conference!

The conference is open to anyone with an interest in gifted education.
