‘Olveston’ was the family home of Dunedin businessman and philanthropist David Theomin. An avid collector, the house was lavishly and extensively furnished during the late 1800s and early 1900s, with fine art, furniture, domestic wares and objects purchased from around the world.

Gifted to the city of Dunedin in 1966 by David's daughter Dorothy, Olveston is a 'time capsule' as little has changed inside the house since it was occupied as a family home between 1906 to 1966. Olveston is an authentic and original historic home depicting the life of a wealthy merchant family in the early twentieth century.

Olveston is sent in 1-acre of manicured gardens, listed by the NZ Gardens Trust as 'A Garden of National Significance'.

Car parking is available around Olveston. We have visitor parking permits for use around the house (120 minutes). Please enquire at reception upon arrival if a permit is required.
