Free Concert! The concert starts promptly at 8pm and cannot go past 11pm so be there early to enjoy the full concert experience!! Bring a blanket / chair and a donation for the bucket rounds.

The Whangamata Summer Festival presents Ian Campbell and the Garden Opera Company. Ian always brings the creme of the opera world's rising stars on their way to the NZ Opera Summer School.

Our free New Year's Day Opera will feature:
* Ian Campbell: Owner / Director of The Garden Opera Company.
* Eliza Boom - Soprano. Winner or finalist of many aria comps including NZ Aria Rotorua,Christchurch, Auckland, Whangarei, Te Awamutu and Hamilton Arias. Waikato University Hilary Scholar.
* Madison Nonoa - Soprano Auckland Uni Graduate 2nd NZ Aria 2014. Finalist or winner in most major comps over many years.
* Philipe Manu - Tenor. One of NZ's real up and coming opera singers. He is an Emerging Artist NZ Opera for 2015. Finalist in most of NZ Aria comps, winner of PACANZ which is like overall winner of the competitions NZ. A young man with a big future ahead of him.
* Francis Cowan- Pianist: One of NZ's most sought after accompanists.

This evening's concert is the last of five free night time concerts.

Be sure to come down to Williamson Reserve to support fantastic NZ talent! The Opera will relocate to the Whangamata RSA on Port Rd in the event of rain / heavy winds.

The Whangamata Summer Festival is run by a not for profit community group who fund raise all year round, in order to provide a focus for youth, young families, locals, holiday makers and the elderly, by staging night time concerts, offering a range of musical genres from roots & dub to pop, rock and even opera, plus volleyball competitions, skate competitions, a kids' holiday programme and our huge craft markets!

Our volunteers will be out selling glowsticks each night to add to the lively atmosphere, so support the Festival by supporting our sponsors and get 'glowed up'!
