St Matthew-in-the-City is celebrating the visit of Nelson Mandela, 20 years ago,
on 13 November at 7pm-9pm and 14 November at 9.30am-12.30pm.

This will build on our celebrations last year as now each year, we consider how we are living out Mandela's legacy and his challenge to move beyond structural racism and racial prejudice in Aotearoa New Zealand in our own day. Over two sessions we will hear from speakers addressing the issues and from people living with the experience, and we will engage in considering what more we can do to facilitate our own walk to freedom in this nation.

Invited speakers for Friday evening are Dame Susan Devoy, Race Relations Commissioner; Ms Anjum Rahman, a Muslim woman and Mr Peeni Henare MP, previous chair of the Maori Language Commission.

Participants are invited to attend one or both of the sessions. Koha requested on entry.
