Poetry Comes to Town in Masterton.

Bring your paper bag lunch to Hedley’s Bookshop, taste some of Jenny Hedley’s famous soup and hear the favourite poems of ten people from the Masterton community: politicians, bankers, business people and members of community groups.
Some of the poems will be familiar favourites but you may discover some new poems too.
You can expect to be surprised, entertained and delighted.

When Poetry Comes to Town continues the Wairarapa tradition of National Poetry Day activities across the region, this time starting at 12:01am on the morning of Friday August 28th and finishing up around midnight of the day itself, with 9 events in all. Readings by published poets, a session of rhymes for children, poetry and birdsong for nature lovers, open mics and open dance, poetry at favorite cafes and bookstores and an art museum -- they'll be something for everyone almost everywhere across the Wairarapa.
