To celebrate the 150th Birthday of Wellington becoming the capital of New Zealand we’re opening the doors to more than 30 national institutions free of charge, revealing some of the rarest and most significant collections and important treasures housed in this city. A free hop-on, hop-off bus service, sponsored by Go Wellington, will take visitors around the Open House circuit.

Take part in a very special “150 years of the People’s Parliament” tour, which offers a closer look at the history of Parliament and the chance to learn more about how it works. The tour runs every half hour from 10.30am to 3.30pm throughout the weekend. The history tour will talk about different aspects of Parliaments history not covered in our “Introducing Parliament” tour.

The “Introducing Parliament” tours will also continue to operate over the weekend on the hour between 10 and 4 on both days.

The routes are all accessible for visitors using wheelchairs and for those with buggies.

Photography, as with our usual tours, is not permitted.

Bookings are not required for tours, but arrive early as spaces are limited.
