Come and celebrate the 175th Anniversary of the Petone Settlers down on the Petone Esplanade on Monday 19 January 2015.
Bring a picnic and join us for a family day of rich history, fun games and activities and musical entertainment!

In 1840 the first British immigrants arrived on the shore at Pito-one (now known as Petone) in large numbers. To celebrate, Hutt City Council have planned a fun, family day out with an educational focus on the historical significance of settlers arriving in the area.

What’s in store?

- Free horse and cart rides by the Horse & Carriage Establishment
- Unearth hidden settler treasures in the Big Archaeological Dig
- Live entertainment from 12-3pm featuring Niko Ne Zna and the Wellington Sea Shanty Society
- Interactive candle-making with the Learning Connexion and wooden spoke-making with The Wheelwright Shop
- Beach cricket, sack races and a tug-o-war
- Excess Conrad Coom’s Suitcase Show

Plus loads of children’s games including:

- Hopscotch
- Stilts
- Jump rope
- Ball & Cup
- Hoop & Sticks
- Horse Shoes
