The Master’s Hand: Can Image Analysis detect the Hand of the Master?

2015 Maclaurin Lecturer: Professor Ingrid Daubechies, Duke University

The presentation follows several projects in which image processing tools are used to decide whether a painting is an original or not, or whether several parts of a painting were painted by the same person. Or not.

Professor Ingrid Daubechies is the James B. Duke Professor of Mathematics at Duke University. She earned her Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Vrije Universiteit Brussel, where she began her academic career. She is best known for her breakthroughs in wavelet research and her contributions to digital signal processing.

The Maclaurin Lectureship is a joint initiative of the New Zealand and American Mathematical Societies.

This is a public lecture hosted by the School of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Canterbury.
