Presbyterian Support East Coast (PSEC) is thrilled to encourage creativity with an exciting new event Redefine, being held on Saturday September 5th from 10am to 5pm at East Pier Hotel, Ahuriri, Napier.

See some amazing recycled items from the Redefine competition. Come and be inspired. All entries for the competition will be showcased at East Pier on the day. There will be a great range of family activities, Pop-Up Op Shops and a fantastic day out for everyone interested in ‘Charity Op Shopping’.

There are six Redefine categories:
1. Miniatures - Let your design fit into a miniature world
2. Surprise us - Complete change from original purpose of item
3. Picture This - Revamp your picture and or frame
4. Shabby Chic it - Refurbish an interior item
5. Rework it - Transform a piece of clothing
6. Hat Trick - Children create an astonishing hat (just for the kids)

10am “Tea Time” - Make a stylish pin cushion using op shop china Gold coin for kids, cost of china for adults, 1 hour
11am “Hat Trick” - Make you own ‘Hat Trick’ hat, Gold coin for kids, 1 hour
12pm “Happy Days” - Make your own paper flowers from old books and sheet music, Gold coin, 1 hour
1pm “Picture This” - Create a picture to hang on your wall using recycled textiles, Gold coin for kids, cost of frame for adults, 1 hour
2pm Pop-Ups - Make a paper pop-up card, Gold coin, 1 hour
3pm “Coast On” - Learn how to upcycle old drink coasters with Penelope Tree Vintage, Gold coin, 1 hour
4pm “Recreate”- Reuse David Trubridge’s light pieces to create your own works of art, Gold coin, 1 hour

Redefine Demonstrations
10.30am “Surprise Us” Learn how to make jigsaw pieces to create decorative items for your home, Free, 1 hour
11.30am and 1.30pm “Rework It” - Glean some tips and tricks for transforming garments and textiles with Isle of Bohemia, Free, 1 hour
12.30pm “Shabby Chic It” - Fenwick Vintage get ‘shabby chic-ing’ with Annie Slone Chalk Paints, Free, 1 hour
2.30pm “Mix It Up” - Learn a variety of techniques using mixed media to build up a design with layers on canvas, fabric or board. Free, 1 hour
3.30pm “Retro Stitch” - Learn how to transform old greeting cards and other stationery with simple crochet tricks, Free, Half hour
4pm “Plated Heaven” - Learn to build a china plate tower, Free, Half hour
