Elmwood Players is delighted to present the New Zealand premiere production of Anna Longaretti’s Sex Cells - a bitter-sweet comedy drama about motherhood, relationships, anger, acceptance, motherhood, compassion, love, motherhood, belonging, motherhood, sex, cake and motherhood.
Set against the humour of a busy call centre selling bizarrely named adult toys, Sex Cells explores motherhood through the relationships and rivalries of four women and the Manager, Mr Causeway. The agony of not being able to be a Mother, the exhausting reality of being a Mum and the quiet grief of the estranged empty-nester is set in contrast with the seemingly uncomplicated freedom of being a single girl on the town.

This play has a light touch and a deep honesty that will take audiences on a memorable journey of laughter and tears.
