Shakespeare's Hamlet: Unpacking 400 years of cultural and historical baggage

A perfect introduction to the Globe-to-Globe production of Hamlet in Wellington on 1–2 June 2015.

This course looks at how Hamlet would have appeared to an Elizabethan audience in 1601. It considers the four centuries of philosophical and theatrical change that we will be bringing with us when we see the the Globe-to-Globe production.

Presenter David Lawrence is an award-winning theatre director and a Hunter Fellow of Victoria University. In 2013, he was part of the International Actors’ Fellowship at Shakespeare’s Globe.
