From the creators of last year’s hit Summer Shakespeare ‘Passionate Acts’ comes ‘Shakespeare's Rebels’.

Scenes from some of Shakespeare's most popular and unusual plays including King Lear, The Tempest, Corolianus, Twelfth Night, Julius Caesar, Macbeth, Merchant of Venice and more.
This year Artistic Director Grae Burton says to expect more of the anthology, “Short, Sharp Shakespeare,” which drew audiences to last years critically acclaimed production. “This years season is another great combination of comedy and pathos, physical and dramatic theatre with a few twists along the way.”

Shakeitup! is a company producing theatre with a difference, a unique twist on a classic work originally presented in one of the most beautiful outdoor locations in Auckland, the Pah Homestead, TSB Bank Wallace Arts Centre. “We perform outside, with the audience seated around the performance on the veranda and grounds, overlooking Monte Cecilia Park. Last year, during the performance as the sun set, the moon rose high in the sky and it was one of the most beautiful experiences I have ever had in theatre.” Says Burton.

The Shakeitup! Company for includes Moana McArtney (returning from last year’s production) and company newcomers Catherine Boniface, Jennifer Freed, Wallace Arts Trust Artist in Residence Paul Trimmer and Wallace Arts Trustee, actor Sam Mannering. Also joining the company onstage is actor, founder and former artistic director of The Auckland Theatre Company and Auckland Arts Festival Simon Prast.
