In this 2 day block printing workshop, artist and experienced tutor Sheyne Tuffery will guide you through learning all the foundation skills you need for printmaking, and help you produce a great folio of prints.
Plus, your best/ favourite work will be hung in the Backspace gallery for the duration of Sheyne's own show "Retrospect"- giving you the chance to be exhibited alongside one of NZ's top printmakers.

Based in Wellington, Sheyne Tuffery is a multimedia visual artist whose primary mediums are painting, animation and printmaking. Perhaps best known for the dynamic style of his prints and woodcuts, he describes himself as a paper architect who uses his work to create and represent his own cultural context and sense of belonging.

The class runs 10am to 4pm over 2 days, Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 April.
It will take place in the gallery space, and numbers are limited to only 8, so be quick!
Due to the support of the Creative Communities Scheme, we are able to offer the 2 day course at a very low cost of $150 p/p.

Sheyne says "I really direct the students, and control the colours, and guide them through the process so they pop out the other end with a folder of smashing prints." He has been taking classes for 20 years and is a passionate and engaging teacher.
Your course fee includes all the materials including the press, inks, chisels, paper, rollers, newsprint and custom wood.

As it involves chisel work, the course is best suited for age 13+. However, if you have a capable younger child and would like to take the class together, we would love to facilitate this and can offer a special rate, please get in touch to discuss.
