Relax in this iconic venue and view a compilation of film and sound recordings illustrating a range of big events from Christchurch's history.

Highlights include the French landing in Akaroa (dramatised in a 1922 feature film), the city's farewells to Antarctica explorers – Shackleton (1908) and World War I troops departing in 1924.

Music, speeches and live radio recordings will help to tell the story of the lives of Cantabrians: there will be images from Cathedral Square, and the city's trams, plus Christchurch Cinema's annual staff frolic at the Wintersarden in 1935.

Presented in association with Beca Heritage Week 2015
