Presented by Bond Street Bridge
(Cabaret; Music; Spoken Word/Storytelling)

Join some of NZs most exciting songwriters for an evening of historical story and song. Featuring Rosy Tin Teacaddy and Rachel Dawick, expect tales of pioneers, storms, volcanoes, hubris and human error as these troubadours bring history to life. The musicians of the SSHS have travelled the world hunting for stories told in bar-rooms, buried in libraries and carved on monuments, using these stories as raw material for crafting beautiful songs. They share stories with audiences of like-minded history buffs and music lovers, shedding a new light on familiar tales and revealing obscure characters and unlikely events. Following up on their ‘best music’ gong in the 2013 NZ Fringe Awards, Rosy Tin Teacaddy present new tales from their forth-coming EP while Rachel Dawick shares material gathered during research for her critically-acclaimed ‘Boundary Riders’ project.

The Society holds two meetings during the NZ Fringe, at two unique heritage venues – The Museum of Wellington City and Sea and the historic St Peter’s Hall, Paekakariki.

The SSHS honours the passing of its president, Sam Prebble of Bond St Bridge. A great mariner lost to the sea.
