Sean James Donnelly, aka SJD, hits the stage with his band of long-time conspirators to celebrate the release of his seventh album, Saint John Divine.

The finest exposition yet of what Nick Bollinger described as ‘blue-eyed soul that reaches down into the core of your being’, this album joins an unimpeachable canon of work that ranges from Lost Soul Music and Southern Lights through to Songs From A Dictaphone and Elastic Wasteland. Frequently cited as Aotearoa’s most under-rated talent, SJD’s work has been both critically lauded and cherished by fans, from A-listers to regular folks alike.

Accompanied by The Black Quartet on sumptuous strings, SJD will perform the entire album, alongside a solid selection of his many fan favourites. As always with this Taite & Tui Award-winning artist, you can expect the unexpected.

The Black Quartet
Unrivalled as New Zealand’s premier string quartet, The Black Quartet are a sophisticated, versatile group of extremely talented young musicians, offering a contemporary take on this classic ensemble style.

They have collaborated with the likes of Kanye West, Six60 and Ladyhawke, accompanied Hayley Westenra, toured the world and composed for some of the world’s biggest brands. The calibre of their musicianship is matched by the cool, contemporary style and attitude they bring to their art form.
