John Ritchie (1921 – 2014) was a multi-faceted Christchurch musician: clarinettist, conductor, composer, and also Music Director for the Commonwealth Games and a Papal Visit. His Concertino and Suite exemplify his lyricism, quirky harmonies and infectious rhythms. Indisputably one of today’s leading clarinettists, Michael Collins displays a dazzling virtuosity and sensitive musicianship making him a sought-after soloist with leading orchestras and conductors around the world.

London-based Simon Over is the Music Director of the Southbank Sinfonia, and he also conducts choirs, an opera company, and other orchestras in Europe and Asia. Our 2015 season concludes with his direction of Beethoven’s delightful Symphony No. 7 which Wagner was moved to describe as the "apotheosis of the dance”.
