All the traditional crafts-people coming to town... Demonstrations of blacksmithing, saddlery, woodcarving, tailoring, clock repair, soap making, cobblery and much more. Enjoy an olden days experience and learn about traditional crafts.

This year the traditional craft festival at CHB Settlers Museum is part of the Spring Fling Central Hawkes Bay. Crafts people from all around Hawkes Bay are bringing new fresh energy demonstrating crafts that have been with us for generations but might be forgotten now.

Bringing old museum items back to life just fits perfectly with the spring season. The museum restored blacksmith hearth will be alive with fire and tools, the rhythm of forge will merge with other crafts demonstrating outside of the museum. Wood carving on the pole lathe, saddlery and leatherwork demonstration, clock repair, cobbler and pottery will be set up outside at the courtyard. Inside we will have tailoring using the old treadle sewing machine, spinning and weaving, soap making, lace making, knitting, crochet and rugs making.

Visitors will be able to try their hands at some of the old crafts as well as buying products.
Live music will accompany the day to create a village market atmosphere.

The Spring Fling is for people who seriously love to live and, as we Spring into the change of season it’s time to enjoy everything that is new and fresh! This is an opportunity for the whole of Central Hawke’s Bay to showcase the region as we offer a series of “Spring Fling” events. The Spring Fling is the time for new beginnings and fresh starts. The Spring Fling will happen during the month of September – Opening event Friday 4th – Closing event Sunday 27th September 2015.
