Strangely Arousing – New Horizons New Zealand Tour

Rotorua band Strangely Arousing are taking their talents across the country for their first nation-wide tour during March and April. The popular five-piece band soared to success after taking out the prestigious Smokefree Pacifica Beats competition and have since shared the stage with such big names as Damien Marley at the Raggamuffin festival and most recently, Kiwi band Fat Freddy’s Drop.

In December last year the band also won NZ’s biggest band contest; Battle of the Bands National Championship, against around 100 bands from around the country. Winning prizes of; recording of a single at NZ's top recording Studio, Roundhead Studios in Auckland, Global Radio Airplay promotion from the event's American sponsor Musik and Film, with the single delivered to 250,000 radio stations worldwide, a world class mixing desk from Allen & Heath as well as other prizes.

The tour will support the release of their single and video clip, titled ‘Kupenga’, which to date has amassed more than 100,000 views on YouTube.

The band, made up Lukas Wharekura, Shaun Loper, Oliver Prendergast, Forrest Thorp and Liam Rolfe, is now about to embark on their first New Zealand tour.

Sponsored by Spellbound Harbour Radio and Smokefree Pacifica Beats, the tour will see them perform in 20 cities around the country in the next two months.

Singer Lukas Wharekura said he was stoked to have the opportunity to perform around New Zealand. “It’s a pretty amazing opportunity to be able to tour around the country. New Zealand is so beautiful but there’s so many places we haven’t seen, so this will give us the chance to see them as well as get our name out there. ”Lukas said he hoped the tour will help the band generate more exposure and increase their fanbase even further. “Hopefully people come to our shows and go away wanting to listen to more of our music. ”Lukas said the tour was a step closer to their ultimate goal — to tour internationally and perform alongside the world’s biggest music stars. Forrest Thorp said the tour was already getting interest from fans. “Everyone we’ve mentioned the tour to so far has been both interested and excited.”

Auckland Band Brendon Thomas and the Vibes (Recently seen on X-Factor) will also play alongside Strangely Arousing for most of their performances.
