Present: Summer Classic at Mangawhai Tavern

The Mangawhai Tavern has grown to become an icon of live music in New Zealand, so it’s only fitting for it to be the host of the inaugural Summer Classic.

Presented by Red Rum Touring and George FM, and kicking off this Waitangi Day (Friday February 6), a stellar international and local lineup of electronic musicians will take the tavern by storm.

One half of Australian supergroup Carmada, LDRU takes headline position alongside fellow Aussie Touch Sensitive, while bringing up the rear on the local front is hometown hero and proven party-starter P-Money.

Supported by a swathe of local talent including Terace and George FM acts The Beat Mafia and Mike Ross, everything kicks off at 7pm and runs ’til late.

LDRU has become a well known name in the world of electronic music, having made waves over the last two years as a solo artist with his complex beat-driven productions, coining the term ‘tropical trap’ to describe his bass laden sound. Having officially remixed the likes of Flume, Miami Horror and
Broods, LDRU is also one-half of electronic duo Carmada, alongside fellow Australian producer Yahtzel. The duo topped the Australian iTunes chart with their debut ‘Realise’ EP, with the lead single ‘Maybe’ quickly becoming the most spun tune on radio powerhouse Triple J. As a result, they were quickly signed to Skrillex’s record label OWSLA, and are rapidly gaining worldwide
recognition as a force to be reckoned with.

Touch Sensitive is a true stalwart of the pioneering Australian record label Future Classic. Moonlighting as the keyboardist and synth-wizard from indiepop act Van She, Touch Sensitive became a name on the tip of club-goers tongues after the release of his second single, ‘Real Talk’ in 2012. A collaboration with Anna Lunoe, the smooth house track gained global praise and was followed up with the enormous single ‘Pizza Guy’. Touch Sensitive is known for his electric stage presence when playing live, employing a menagerie of instruments and machinery to create a truly memorable
performance.
