2.30pm Te Manawa Art Gallery - Ga won Kim, piano
Featuring music by Bach, Beethoven, de Falla, Bach-Busoni

Ga Won Kim has received her B.Mus in piano performance and in Pipe Organ studies from Ewha Women’s University (South Korea), and continued further study of Master of Music in piano performance in Perth at University of Western Australia.

She has been actively involved in performances with chamber musicians and performed in numerous Master classes with renowned pianists such as Mung-Whun Chung, John Perry, Boris Berman and Piers Lane. She has made guest appearances with Korean and Japanese strings orchestra and gave numerous solo piano recitals both in Korea and Australia. In 2011, she was invited to perform in the opening concert of the Korea Australia’s 50th year of Friendship in Perth.

She has worked as a piano performance instructor at numerous schools, including University of Western Australia, Swan Christian College, Perth College, Mercedes College, Corpus Christi College, and Hale. She has also been an active adjudicator in festivals and year 12 graduation recitals at colleges around Western Australia. She was a head of keyboard studies at Presbyterian Ladies’ College in the past 6 years before moving to New Zealand.

In 2014, she has moved to New Zealand to pursue Music Therapy studies at New Zealand School of Music in Wellington.

She looks forward for an opportunity to meet untapped talented musicians, and share her musical knowledge and experiences to many potential budding learners.
