We’re very excited to announce something new and exciting to Sunday afternoons at The Cross - on July 19th, we begin our first of seven Sunday sessions showcasing Wellington's finest and freshest musical talent from local music schools. Every Sunday from 19th July - 6th September (except Sunday 9th August due to our monthly Salsa sessions), there'll be a different group of talented musician's doing their thing on the dance floor between 4:30-6:30pm.

This is about showcasing some of the amazing talent coming out of Wellington's music schools, and giving these students the experience and opportunity to perform a paid gig to the public. Come support their endeavours and hear some sweet sweet tunes. Entry will be free of course, and we'll have a couple of food specials on (with a discount for students with ID) as well our Sunday roast from 5pm (with a free brownie or coffee).

Tom Lehatte and His Jazz Bandits

Tom Lehatte and the Jazz Bandits are the black sheep of the NZSM, dragging jazz through the murky puddles of blues, funk and dystopian pop. Formed to play gigs for the mysterious ‘black rabbit’ moving burlesque club, the band’s uprising has been a journey of sequins, dirty jams and fast fingered strings.

Bringing together gentle giant Dexter Stanley-Tauvao on the boom booms, the suave Alexander Boulton on the guitar and banjo, Ruby Solly the temporary-tattooed temptress on the electric cello and vocals, and the main man, Tom ‘red beard’ Lahatte leading from behind on the bass. Bringing you a wide range of styles and tunes from dixie, to swing, to Tom Waits to Katy Perry, this band is sure to have you laughing, dancing, singing and hollering for more. Bring your best dancing shoes and prepare to be entertained.
