The Maritime Museum’s wooden tall ship, Breeze, is sailing north for the summer. Usually based in Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour, this January you’ll be able to climb on board in the beautiful Bay of Islands for a range of special sailing experiences.

Join the crew for an afternoon sailing trip from Russell Wharf and experience what life would have been like for 19th Century sailors. Or climb on board for a two hour evening sailing alongside fellow tall ship R Tucker Thompson. You can enjoy an antipasto platter on board while the crews flex their muscles with a mock gun battle between the two ships to transport you back in time.

Whichever experience you choose there's plenty of opportunity to get involved and help the crew set the sails. Or you can simply sit back and enjoy the stunning views of this beautiful island-dotted coast.

Crewed by a team of Museum volunteers, Breeze's Northland trip is a chance to showcase a piece of New Zealand’s maritime heritage to communities up and down the coast. With only 12 places available, taking part in an afternoon or evening sailing on Breeze in the Bay of Islands is a unique experience to remember.
