In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of World War 1, Crows Feet Dance Collective from Wellington comes to the Hawkes Bay in May to present a full length dance work to a recording of Karl Jenkins’ famous evocative score The Armed Man. With over 40 dancers depicting men leaving for war, battlefield scenes and personal family experiences, this tribute to the thousands of New Zealand families whose lives were forever changed during the First World War, will be both moving and uplifting. There is a brilliant counterpoint to Bolwell’s outstanding choreography in the form of the ground-breaking performance by six young dancers from the Whitireia Performing Arts Programme, led by Paora Taurima, who will dance in sections of The Armed Man that depict men at war.
On the day, please remember to bring cash to the show, as there will be a wine bar during the relaxed opening bracket with our special local Hawke’s Bay Community Choir, led by song leader Chelsea Savaiinaea and accompanist Tevivi Daniel.
