How will the backyard cricket work?
Backyard Cricket rules will apply. An example of such rules is listed below, but by no means is an exhaustive list! Rules will be confirmed on the day by the presiding umpires.

- Rule 1: First ball reprieve
A batsman can’t lose their wicket on the first ball.
- Rule 2: One hand, one bounce
You don’t play backyard cricket without a drink in one hand – hence the one hand,
- Rule 3: Six and out
Over the fence or onto the roof is six runs but also out.
- Rule 4: No LBW
- Rule 5: No running between wickets
It’s hot and you’ve just gorged on Pimm’s and cucumber sandwiches. Who wants to run?
- Rule 6: Three over spell
No one likes a hog, so batsmen cannot stay at the crease for longer than three overs.
- Rule 7: Everyone’s a bowler
In the backyard arena, there are no specialist batsmen. Everyone must have a bowl.

Are we playing on the real wicket?
This is old school backyard cricket, no real wickets allowed! The backyard wicket will be set up on the western side of the pitch.

What is the dress code?
Dress code is summer garden cocktail party attire. Cricket whites strongly encouraged!

What shoes shall I wear?
Strictly NO heels on the field so a pair of jandals, sandals or flats is essential. Ladies, you can swap your jandals for heels once inside the Gallery.

Will there be GF, DF & Vegetarian options?
We can cater for these but only with prior knowledge. Please email your dietary requirements to Charlotte Collins, charlotte.collins@epicure-nz.com

What if it rains?
The party will go ahead rain or shine! If the weather isn’t working in our favour, the backyard cricket and Pimm’s Pavilion will move inside to the Food Court area of the public concourse. Lunch will follow from 2.30pm in the Level 4 Members Gallery.

How are we seated for lunch?
Guests will be seated at one of four tables of 100pax. Purchased tickets will be seated together unless otherwise indicated.

What is the menu for lunch?
A festive Christmas feast with canapés, entrée, main and dessert. Menus are currently being designed and will be released before the event.
The menu is a collaboration between the talented Exec Chef Steve Morris from EPICURE & Exec Chef Tim McClay-Talivai from Portlander Bar & Grill

What entrance do we use to the stadium?
Guests are asked to arrive from 12.45pm at the Accreditation Booth to the right of the main entry turnstiles. From there, Long Lunch Hosts will point you in the right direction for accessing the Pimm’s Pavilion and the Pitch.
