Travel with Steam Incorporated north from Kapiti via the spectacular Manawatu Gorge to the Tararua and north Wairarapa regions. Select from either; Woodville (races), Eketahuna (Mt Bruce & Middleton) or Opaki / Masterton as your destination. An ideal Xmas gift!

The train will be hauled by newly restored WWI Memorial steam locomotive Ab608 “Passchendaele”, and we will be using our vintage carriages, some with open balcony ends. Ab608 will be 100 years old in 2015. The train will include a buffet counter selling burgers, sausages, sandwiches, drinks and snacks, and a souvenir counter for all sorts of railway and steam memorabilia.

Return train fares ex Kapiti Stations are:
To Woodville - Adult $99, Child $69
To Eketahuna (for Mt Bruce) - Adult $129, Child $89
To Opaki or Masterton - Adult $139, Child $99
Return train fares $10 less if boarding at Levin & Shannon and $15 less if at Palmerston North

Option 1 –Woodville Races Interislander Summer Festival
The Summer Festival Woodville Races showcases country racing at its best at this iconic kiwi raceday. Nestled under the Ruahine Ranges, Woodville Racecourse is only a short bus ride from the station. Bring the family and pack a picnic and join the Woodville-Pahiatua Racing Club for a great family day out. There will be plenty of free children’s entertainment available throughout the day that will keep the kids busy while you sit back, relax and enjoy the fantastic atmosphere and exciting racing action.
Bus transfers from Woodville Station included.
Adult $10. Child no charge.

Option 2 Pukaha, Mt Bruce Wildlife Centre & Middleton Model Railway
Pukaha Mt Bruce is New Zealand's National Wildlife Centre for breeding threatened species. Learn about how Pukaha is now home to endangered species living in the wild; experience tranquil bushwalks through primal rainforest; check out kaka, New Zealand's forest parrots and their crazy antic at 3pm; plus many kokako, kereru, & tui. New for this visit will be the recently completed state of the art, Kiwi House and hopefully see feeding of Kiwi chicks. Savour light meals, espresso and inside/outside dining. Alight at Eketahuna. Bus transfer from train to Pukaha Mt Bruce included. Adults $26. Child $13.

During the Mt Bruce visit it is also possible to visit the nearby Middleton Model Railway (over 300 metres of track) & Cwmglyn Farmhouse cheeses. This attraction has featured on Country Calendar. Admission included above.

Option 3 – Opaki Vineyard
A few kilometres before reaching Masterton we will stop the train adjacent to the Paper Road Vineyard. You will have time to spend an hour enjoying a glass of wine and a stroll through the vineyard. Expected to be on offer will be their Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc & a Rose. The train will pick you up on the return trip from Masterton.

Option 4 – Masterton
Just enjoy a full day of nostalgic steam travel. This is a rare chance to travel on the rail line north of Masterton that now only sees a few freight trains each year.
