This exhibition of new work by Diana Bidwill is a journey through current series exploring spray paint as a medium and using silhouette forms and found objects. Profile portraits in the style of old Victorian paper cut portraits juxtapose subjects with an edge, while in the latest series Diana returns to past subject matter, new takes on old military portraits and profiles.

Themes of portrayal, control and contrast have contemporary resonance, with the show title deriving from the famous painting of the Emperor Napoleon crossing the Alps, by Jacques-Louis David (painted in 1801-05).
It's an enduring image and one carefully crafted to create an impression. However, during the real crossing, Napoleon reputedly rode a donkey.

We invite you to join us at the opening on Saturday 8 August, from 5 - 6.30pm
