"Writing a song for me is about creating a new character and becoming part of their brief journey. I have to be able to see them standing in front of me; visualise their walk, their mannerisms, hear their voice, understand their story before I can begin to write the song. The song is a scene from a movie - it is trapped in time and brought to life in front of an audience so they feel part of something unworldly, something special and able to identify with the character that appears before them. How you bring that story to life is the trick, that's where the hard work sets in. You cannot be confined to a genre when there is a story to tell because it is the character that determines that. Genres are more a product of an industry justifying itself by packaging an artist ready to sell to the public - it helps the audience to have a "sense" of sound. No artist should have to live within a box? Surely the role of an artist is to defy boundaries, challenge, question, reflect, explore, communicate and create magic." - Rachel Dawick

Rachel is a Kiwi born artist, sharing her talents with audience on so many stages. It is a privilege to host Rachel in Rotorua and for those who enjoy an in-depth experience of story and song, this night will be truly magical for you.
