A one-day forum to:
- Bring together health practitioners, health consumers and policy makers
- Review the role of screening in the control of cancer
- Review the potential benefits and potential risks of cancer screening
- Explore the future of cancer screening and primary prevention in New Zealand
- Share knowledge and foster debate.

In August 1988, the Cartwright Report provided a blueprint for organised cervical screening and paved the way for other cancer screening programmes in New Zealand. The time is ripe to review the benefits and risks of cancer screening and so help health consumers, health professionals and the Government make well-informed decisions for the future.

Topics include cervical, breast and colorectal cancer screening as well as the potential for primary prevention of these cancers.

Forum speakers include Dr Naomi Brewer, Assoc Prof Brian Cox, Dr Hazel Lewis, Dr Susan Parry, Prof Ann Richardson and Assoc Prof Diana Sarfati.
Organisations represented include Breast Cancer Network, Bowel Cancer New Zealand, Cancer Control New Zealand and the National Screening Unit.

The forum is organised by the Auckland-based Cartwright Collective in association with the Auckland Women’s Health Council and Women’s Health Action.

Cost: $150 for academics and professionals; $80 for consumers, NGOs, students which includes catering.
